Drill cores and boreholes

The products shows coordinated information about boreholes and drill cores, cuttings, etc., which SGU manages. Data is also available from scanned and analyzed drill cores from SGU's archives.

Boreholes

Boreholes show coordinated information about boreholes from which SGU also in many cases manages drill cores, cuttings, etc. The material comes from drillings made for exploration purposes or for documentation purposes in connection with construction works all over. Boreholes also contains links to the scanned drill cores of Swedish mineralizations and ore types that have been photographed and scanned with infrared hyperspectral technology and are described further down the page.

Download the product as a pre-packaged zip file

The link will download the data in GeoPackage format. The contents of the delivery are shown in the product description.

Landing page for OGC API – Features

The link provides documentation in HTML or JSON format for direct access to vector data via OGC API - Features. Main data download format is GeoJSON.

Hyperspectral Infrared Core Imaging Data

Ikon-Produkter-60.png

The data comprise image and spectral data acquired by scanning of drill cores at SGU. The cameras in the scanner cover the visible, short wavelength and long wavelength parts of the infrared spectrum. The combination of different infrared wavelength ranges increases the mineral detection capability. Objective information about the mineralogical composition of the drill cores is fundamental basics for interpretation and modeling of the rock and the geological evolution.

For more information about the product, see the product descriptions.
