Ground penetrating radar

The data product contains information about ground penetrating radar measurements. The information consists of processed radar images and their positions, in which groundwater levels, geological structures and the bedrock surface can be seen.

Geophysical Ground Measurements, Ground penetrating radar

In the processed radar images, for example, you can see groundwater levels, geological structures and the bedrock surface. Data is collected by SGU in the geological mapping. The collection has taken place mainly within the hydrogeological and soil geological mapping. The information is used to obtain a three-dimensional picture of geology and groundwater reservoirs. The largest part of the data has been collected from the mid-1990s onwards.

The position of the profile is determined by map, (topographic or economic), with or without GPS as support. Most profiles are measured lengthwise with measuring wheels (sometimes measuring tapes) at the time of measurement. The number of measurement points (traces) per meter is usually four to five. Some profiles are measured with a fixed number of measurements per unit of time. The profiles are often height-determined with a barometer and sometimes leveled with leveling instruments and/or height-determined with the national height base. The absolute height comes from leveling to a known height or from the national height base.
