Call open for the next PanAfGeo WP4 course in Nigeria

The call for the next WP4 ”Environmental Management of Mines” training is now open. This fifth training will take place in Abuja, Nigeria, 1-12 April 2019.

The “WP4 – Environmental Management of Mines” aims to contribute to improve the skills of the African Geological Services on the environmental issue of the mining activity (e.g. water and air pollution by toxic substances, health impact on the surrounding populations, geotechnical stability problems, loss of biodiversity, acid mine drainage, etc.). WP4 also aims to promote better governance and sustainable and rational use of mineral resources in Africa.

PanAfGeo is an initiative funded by the European union (EU) and The Intergovernmental Forum on Mining, Minerals, Metals and Sustainable Development (IGF). PanAfGeo consists of several training programs, where Sweden and SGU are responsible for WP4 – Environmental Management of Mines.
